Executive Director Update, 4/15/16

We have ended this Friday with an interview for a new Kitchen Manager. Beth Shockley, our current Kitchen manager has been feeding the bodies and souls of our students for about 30 years.  She is retiring this year.  We still have three more candidates to go before making a decision. This is definitely the Interview season.

I am happy to share that we have hired a New Executive Director for Region V BOCES, Dan Mayer.  He is currently the Special Education Director in Evanston.  He has great background, many skills and a lot of experience working with and serving students with special needs.  He will be on board and at the helm on July 1, 2016.  Before that he plans to be involved in transition activities with the Region V BOCES staff.  Welcome to Dan.  We have every confidence that he will be an amazing Executive Director.

Many folks have stressed over the fact that Patty Talley is retiring as the School Director at C – V. She will be greatly missed and is an incredible educator AND Bill Oliphant, her Assistant School Director for many years, is taking her place.  So everyone should rest easy.  While Bill is not Patty he has many different strengths, tons of experience and has been a key force in creating the programs and direction for C – V school.  He has an ability to quietly relate with staff and students and coaches them to be their best.  He assumes his new role July 1st as well.

I will keep you posted on the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager positions as they are filled.

Thanks to Kelly Burnside for securing a grant from Rocky Mountain Power, Wattsmart Program. He saved us $800.00 by installing energy efficient fixtures and bulbs.  I appreciate his initiative.

I attended the Kemmerer Board meeting this week. As always they were most gracious and interested in our students, our progress and our successes.  Thanks to the Kemmerer Board for their ongoing support.

Graduation at C – V is set for Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the C – V Gym. If you are able to attend – please make your plans now.  We would love to have you participate in this serious and joyous event.  We have a reception after the ceremony.

Have a terrific weekend and please think spring not snow. : ) Doris
